Dr. Newman’s final batch of letters was sent by express mail to ensure that it would arrive in time for Ilanot’s expected publication date. This came at a hefty fee, but she was assured that express mail would definitely deliver her letters in two weeks. The letters did not arrive by that date, or for the next week after that, lost, apparently somewhere in a sorting facility in Bnei Brak. In Tel Aviv, Mr. Morena doubted that they would ever arrive. Eventually, there was a frantic knock at his door: an angry delivery man. “Why won’t you pick up your phone?? I’ve been trying to call you. You got this letter. It looks important.” Ten minutes after the letter was in his hand a text message’s yellow envelope notification icon arrived. “Hi,” said the message, “there is a envelope for you. Should I leave it in your mailbox?”
