Yes, there are poems from the manuscript X=Pawn Capture, poems written for Dear Editor, which at one point I intended to include. The Amy Newman of those letters did a lot of revising and trying out various poetry forms, and there were also school assignments, into which her poetry mind interfered, or wandered, or entered.
(This might be one of the places where the Amy Newman of those letters and I interwined. When I was in 7th grade we had a “home economics” course, in which we sewed jumpers in severe corduroy fabrics, and created, with canned fruits, mini- marshmallows and coconut shreds, a salad I had never seen before or since. It was called “Ambrosia” salad, as if made for Valhalla or Olympus. One day I had finished an exam early, so I drew a flower on the exam. The teacher took off 50 points for that flower. Thinking of her gesture now, and wondering why it came to me just now, I wonder if she was trying to break me of such impulses. My wandering and delight in drawing flowers and home economics were to her mutually exclusive. Or maybe she was having a bad day. )
